1) On 28 August 2026 the United States and Venezuela announced a major oil deal involving more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuela’s proven oil reserves. It was tied to a private joint venture, a 100-year concession and a reported U.S. majority stake of 55% through equity and access to oil at cost.
28 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी अमेरिका आणि व्हेनेझुएला यांनी व्हेनेझुएलाच्या 65 अब्ज बॅरल्सहून अधिक प्रमाणित तेल साठ्यांशी संबंधित एका मोठ्या तेल कराराची घोषणा केली. हा करार एका खाजगी संयुक्त उपक्रमाशी आणि 100 वर्षांच्या सवलतीच्या कराराशी (concession) निगडित होता; तसेच, यात इक्विटीद्वारे अमेरिकेचा 55% बहुमताचा हिस्सा आणि उत्पादन खर्चावर तेल मिळवण्याची सुविधा यांचा समावेश असल्याचे वृत्त होते.
2) The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has proposed mandatory front-of-pack warning labels for packaged foods high in sugar, salt and saturated fat. The proposal has been filed before the Supreme Court of India in a compliance affidavit and it contains red colored, hexagonal warning symbols for specified food products.
भारतीय अन्न सुरक्षा आणि मानके प्राधिकरणाने (FSSAI) साखर, मीठ आणि संतृप्त चरबीचे प्रमाण जास्त असलेल्या पॅकबंद खाद्यपदार्थांसाठी पॅकच्या पुढील बाजूस अनिवार्य चेतावणी लेबल लावण्याचा प्रस्ताव दिला आहे. हा प्रस्ताव भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात एका अनुपालन प्रतिज्ञापत्राद्वारे दाखल करण्यात आला असून, त्यात निर्दिष्ट अन्न उत्पादनांसाठी लाल रंगाची, षटकोनी चेतावणी चिन्हे आहेत.
3) IIT Madras launched Phiball at its Chennai campus on 28 August 2026. Phiball is a competitive invasion sport played by three teams, designed with rules for less space and infrastructure than traditional basketball.
आयआयटी मद्रासने 28 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी आपल्या चेन्नई कॅम्पसमध्ये ‘फिबॉल’ सुरू केला. फिबॉल हा तीन संघांमध्ये खेळला जाणारा एक स्पर्धात्मक आक्रमण खेळ आहे, जो पारंपरिक बास्केटबॉलपेक्षा कमी जागा आणि पायाभूत सुविधांसाठी नियमांनुसार तयार करण्यात आला आहे.
4) General Zhao Zongqi was removed from the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on August 26, 2026. He was also removed from his CPPCC membership and his position as vice-chairman of the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs.
26 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी जनरल झाओ झोंगकी यांना ‘चायनीज पीपल्स पॉलिटिकल कन्सल्टेटिव्ह कॉन्फरन्स’च्या (CPPCC) 14 व्या राष्ट्रीय समितीच्या स्थायी समितीमधून हटवण्यात आले. तसेच, त्यांना CPPCC चे सदस्यत्व आणि ‘वांशिक व धार्मिक व्यवहार समिती’चे उपाध्यक्षपद यांपासूनही मुक्त करण्यात आले.
5) India and China reached an eight-point consensus during the 25th Round of Talks between the Special Representatives on the Boundary Question in Beijing on 25 August, 2026. The talks were led by India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
25 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी बीजिंगमध्ये सीमा प्रश्नाबाबतच्या विशेष प्रतिनिधींमधील चर्चेच्या 25 व्या फेरीत भारत आणि चीन यांच्यात आठ-कलमी सहमती झाली. या चर्चेचे नेतृत्व भारताचे राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सल्लागार अजित डोवाल आणि चीनचे परराष्ट्र मंत्री वांग यी यांनी केले.
6) On 28 August 2026, Hockey India announced a cash reward of ₹50 lakh for the Indian women’s hockey team for its performance in the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup. On 27 August 2026, the team finished fifth in Amstelveen, Netherlands; India’s best World Cup finish since 1974 when it finished fourth 52 years ago.
28 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी, हॉकी इंडियाने ‘एफआयएच (FIH) महिला हॉकी विश्वचषका’तील कामगिरीबद्दल भारतीय महिला हॉकी संघासाठी 50 लाख रुपयांचे रोख बक्षीस जाहीर केले. 27 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी नेदरलँड्समधील ॲमस्टेलवीन येथे हा संघ पाचव्या स्थानावर राहिला; 1974 मध्ये (52 वर्षांपूर्वी) चौथ्या स्थानावर राहिल्यानंतरची ही भारताची विश्वचषकातील सर्वोत्तम कामगिरी ठरली.
7) President Droupadi Murmu promulgated the Union Territory of Ladakh (Sitting of Bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in Ladakh) Regulation, 2026 on August 27, 2026. The regulation was promulgated under Article 240 of the Constitution and Section 58(2) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 to lay down a legal framework for holding the High Court sittings in Ladakh.
राष्ट्रपती द्रौपदी मुर्मू यांनी 27 ऑगस्ट 2026 रोजी ‘केंद्रशासित प्रदेश लडाख (लडाखमध्ये जम्मू आणि काश्मीर व लडाख उच्च न्यायालयाच्या खंडपीठाचे कामकाज) नियमन, 2026’ जारी केले. लडाखमध्ये उच्च न्यायालयाचे कामकाज चालवण्यासाठी कायदेशीर चौकट निश्चित करण्याच्या उद्देशाने, संविधानातील अनुच्छेद 240 आणि ‘जम्मू आणि काश्मीर पुनर्रचना कायदा, 2019’ मधील कलम 58(२) अन्वये हे नियमन जारी करण्यात आले.
8) The 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has concluded in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, bringing together governments, scientists, civil society and pastoralist communities to address the interconnected challenges of desertification, land degradation and drought. Looking ahead, the 18th session of the UNCCD COP (COP18) will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in 2028.
वाळवंटीकरण, जमिनीचा ऱ्हास आणि दुष्काळ या परस्परसंबंधित आव्हानांचा सामना करण्यासाठी सरकारे, शास्त्रज्ञ, नागरी समाज आणि पशुपालक समुदाय यांना एकत्र आणणारे ‘वाळवंटीकरण रोखण्याबाबतच्या संयुक्त राष्ट्रांच्या करारा’चे (UNCCD) 17 वे अधिवेशन (COP17) मंगोलियातील उलानबातर येथे संपन्न झाले. यापुढील, म्हणजेच 18 वे अधिवेशन (COP18) 2028 मध्ये इजिप्तमधील शर्म अल-शेख येथे आयोजित केले जाईल.
