1) The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh approved capital acquisition proposals worth about ₹2.12 lakh crore on 26 October 2026. The proposals are for equipment for the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Around 82 per cent of the procurement value (around ₹1.74 lakh crore) will be procured from domestic industry.
संरक्षण मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखालील ‘डिफेन्स ॲक्विझिशन कौन्सिल’ने (DAC) 26 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी सुमारे 2.12 लाख कोटी रुपयांच्या भांडवली खरेदी प्रस्तावांना मंजुरी दिली. हे प्रस्ताव भारतीय लष्कर, नौदल आणि हवाई दलासाठी आवश्यक असलेल्या उपकरणांशी संबंधित आहेत. एकूण खरेदी मूल्यापैकी सुमारे 82 टक्के (सुमारे 1.74 लाख कोटी रुपये) रक्कम देशांतर्गत उद्योगांकडून खरेदी केली जाणार आहे.
2) The Maharashtra State Board for Wildlife on 26 October 2026 approved proposals for declaring two forest areas as wildlife sanctuaries and setting up 14 conservation reserves across seven districts. The decisions were taken at the 26th meeting of the Board presided over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
महाराष्ट्र राज्य वन्यजीव मंडळाने 26 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी दोन वनक्षेत्रांना वन्यजीव अभयारण्ये म्हणून घोषित करण्याच्या आणि सात जिल्ह्यांमध्ये 14 संवर्धन राखीव क्षेत्रे (कंझर्व्हेशन रिझर्व्ह्ज) स्थापन करण्याच्या प्रस्तावांना मंजुरी दिली. मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली झालेल्या मंडळाच्या 26 व्या बैठकीत हे निर्णय घेण्यात आले.
3) Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) on October 26, 2026, inaugurated and started functioning of a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) facility at Manipal, a suburb of Udupi in coastal Karnataka. It is a high-containment biomedical research facility for infectious disease research, diagnostics, surveillance and translational biomedical science. It was certified by the Review Committee on Genetic Manipulation (RCGM) of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in March 2026.
मनिपाल अकॅडमी ऑफ हायर एज्युकेशन (MAHE) ने 26 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी कर्नाटकच्या किनारपट्टीवरील उडुपी उपनगर, मनिपाल येथे ‘बायोसॅफ्टी लेव्हल 3’ (BSL-3) सुविधेचे उद्घाटन केले आणि तिचे कामकाज सुरू केले. ही एक उच्च-सुरक्षा (हाय-कंटेनमेंट) बायोमेडिकल संशोधन सुविधा असून, ती संसर्गजन्य रोगांवरील संशोधन, निदान, देखरेख आणि ट्रान्सलेशनल बायोमेडिकल विज्ञानासाठी वापरली जाते. या सुविधेला मार्च 2026 मध्ये जैवतंत्रज्ञान विभागाच्या (DBT) ‘रिव्ह्यू कमिटी ऑन जेनेटिक मॅनिप्युलेशन’ (RCGM) कडून प्रमाणपत्र मिळाले होते.
4) On October 26, 2026, Bengaluru and Hubli in Karnataka will be home to dedicated semiconductor engineering development centers launched by the Indian IT services company HCLTech and Japan’s Rapidus Corporation. The centers will help Rapidus meet its engineering needs and build a pipeline of Indian talent for its workforce needs in Japan.
26 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी, कर्नाटक राज्यातील बेंगळुरू आणि हुबळी येथे ‘एचसीएलटेक’ (HCLTech) ही भारतीय आयटी सेवा कंपनी आणि जपानची ‘रॅपिडस कॉर्पोरेशन’ (Rapidus Corporation) यांच्या संयुक्त उपक्रमातून सेमीकंडक्टर अभियांत्रिकी विकास केंद्रे सुरू होणार आहेत. ही केंद्रे ‘रॅपिडस’ला त्यांच्या अभियांत्रिकी गरजा पूर्ण करण्यास मदत करतील, तसेच जपानमधील त्यांच्या मनुष्यबळाच्या गरजांसाठी भारतीय प्रतिभावंतांची एक फळी तयार करण्यासही साहाय्य करतील.
5) Microsoft said Monday it is offering voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, or about a quarter of its workforce, as the tech giant looks to cut costs while pouring money into artificial intelligence. Microsoft said employees at vise president level and below on select teams in the United States, Canada, India and Britain would be eligible, while some groups of employees, including some working on data centers, sales and marketing, are excluded.

6) The 70th ceremony was held at the London Palladium on 26 October 2026, and Harry Kane won the men’s Ballon d’Or. He became the first English winner of the men’s award since Michael Owen in 2001.

7) Tata Communications on 26 October 2026 announced an investment of nearly $450 million (about ₹4,350 crore) to build high-speed network infrastructure for India’s artificial intelligence (AI) data-centre corridors. The project will lay about 10,000 kilometers of long-haul fiber cables across the country.

8) The Department of Commerce has extended Component II of the RELIEF (Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation) initiative through March 31, 2027. The extension was announced on 26 October 2026 and the notification was through Notification No. 37/2026-27 dated 30 September 2026.
वाणिज्य विभागाने ‘रिलीफ’ (RELIEF – Resilience & Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation) उपक्रमाचा ‘घटक २’ (Component II) 31 मार्च 2027 पर्यंत वाढवला आहे. या मुदतवाढीची घोषणा 26 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी करण्यात आली असून, त्याबाबतची अधिसूचना 30 सप्टेंबर 2026 रोजीच्या ‘अधिसूचना क्र. 37/2026-27’ (Notification No. 37/2026-27) द्वारे जारी करण्यात आली आहे.
