1) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 14 October 2026 announced that the state has extended its drought declaration to 305 talukas, from the 265 talukas declared drought-hit on 26 September. The government attributed the shortfall to poor monsoon rains and an 18.8% shortfall in rainfall between June and 18 September 2026. The El Niño event, an abnormal warming of central and eastern equatorial Pacific waters, is expected to continue through February 2027.
महाराष्ट्र राज्याचे मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांनी 14 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी जाहीर केले की, 26 सप्टेंबर रोजी दुष्काळग्रस्त म्हणून घोषित केलेल्या 265 तालुक्यांच्या यादीत वाढ करून आता एकूण 305 तालुक्यांमध्ये दुष्काळ जाहीर करण्यात आला आहे. सरकारने यासाठी मान्सूनचा कमकुवत पाऊस आणि जून ते 18 सप्टेंबर 2026 या कालावधीत झालेली 18.8% पावसाची तूट ही कारणे दिली. मध्य आणि पूर्व विषुववृत्तीय पॅसिफिक महासागरातील पाण्याचे तापमान असामान्यपणे वाढवणारी ‘एल निनो’ (El Niño) ही घटना फेब्रुवारी २०२७ पर्यंत कायम राहण्याची शक्यता होती.
2) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG), in coordination with the Bank of Thailand, launched the Bangkok Blueprint on 14 October 2026 during their Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. The framework provides countries with a reference model to prevent, detect and address cyber-enabled fraud in digital financial services.
आंतरराष्ट्रीय नाणेनिधी (IMF) आणि जागतिक बँक समूह (WBG) यांनी ‘बँक ऑफ थायलंड’च्या सहकार्याने, थायलंडमधील बँकॉक येथे आयोजित आपल्या वार्षिक बैठकीदरम्यान 14 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी ‘बँकॉक ब्ल्यूप्रिंट’ (Bangkok Blueprint) सुरू केले. हे आराखडा डिजिटल आर्थिक सेवांमधील सायबर-आधारित फसवणूक रोखण्यासाठी, ती शोधण्यासाठी आणि त्यावर उपाययोजना करण्यासाठी देशांना एक संदर्भ-मॉडेल उपलब्ध करून देते.
3) On 13 October 2026, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways launched two credit risk insurance products for India’s shipbuilding industry. The policies were announced by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during the 21st Maritime State Development Council (MSDC) meeting in Mumbai.
13 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी, बंदर, जहाजबांधणी आणि जलमार्ग मंत्रालयाने भारताच्या जहाजबांधणी उद्योगासाठी ‘क्रेडिट रिस्क इन्शुरन्स’ (पत-जोखीम विमा) उत्पादने सुरू केली. मुंबईत झालेल्या 21व्या ‘मॅरिटाइम स्टेट डेव्हलपमेंट कौन्सिल’च्या (MSDC) बैठकीदरम्यान केंद्रीय मंत्री सर्बानंद सोनोवाल यांनी या पॉलिसींची घोषणा केली.
4) The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) configured and tested its Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) platform on the live network of the dynamic test ranges at Proof & Experimental Establishment (PXE), Chandipur, Odisha on 14 October 2026. The system is built to safeguard real-time observations and telemetries from the artillery and armored weapon trials.
संरक्षण संशोधन आणि विकास संस्थेने (DRDO) 14 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी ओडिशामधील चांदीपूर येथील ‘प्रूफ अँड एक्सपेरिमेंटल एस्टॅब्लिशमेंट’ (PXE) मधील डायनॅमिक टेस्ट रेंजच्या प्रत्यक्ष नेटवर्कवर आपल्या ‘क्वांटम की डिस्ट्रिब्युशन’ (QKD) प्रणालीची मांडणी आणि चाचणी केली. तोफखाना आणि चिलखती शस्त्रांच्या चाचण्यांदरम्यान मिळणारी रिअल-टाइम निरीक्षणे आणि टेलिमेट्री माहिती सुरक्षित ठेवण्यासाठी ही प्रणाली विकसित करण्यात आली आहे.
5) The Indian Embassy in Jakarta had launched an artificial intelligence (AI) avatar named Dewi in October 2026 for public outreach. The virtual guide aims to provide information on Indian culture, travel, scholarships, business, investment opportunities and consular services.
जकार्ता येथील भारतीय दूतावासाने जनतेशी संवाद साधण्यासाठी ऑक्टोबर 2026 मध्ये ‘देवी’ (Dewi) नावाचा कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्तेवर (AI) आधारित अवतार सुरू केला होता. या आभासी मार्गदर्शकाचा उद्देश भारतीय संस्कृती, पर्यटन, शिष्यवृत्ती, व्यवसाय, गुंतवणुकीच्या संधी आणि वाणिज्य दूतावास सेवांविषयी माहिती पुरवणे हा आहे.
6) The Ministry of Ayush on 13 October 2026 has issued Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs) “Management of Dermatological Disorders for Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy”. The guidelines have been prepared by the Ayush Vertical of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. They were released publicly on the occasion of the 11th Ayurveda Day.
आयुष मंत्रालयाने 13 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी ‘आयुर्वेद, सिद्ध, युनानी आणि होमिओपॅथी पद्धतींनुसार त्वचारोगांचे व्यवस्थापन’ (Management of Dermatological Disorders for Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy) या विषयावरील ‘मानक उपचार मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वे’ (STGs) जारी केली आहेत. ही मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वे आरोग्य आणि कुटुंब कल्याण मंत्रालयाच्या अंतर्गत असलेल्या ‘आरोग्य सेवा महासंचालनालया’च्या (DGHS) ‘आयुष विभागा’ने तयार केली आहेत. 11 व्या ‘आयुर्वेद दिना’चे औचित्य साधून ती सार्वजनिकरीत्या प्रकाशित करण्यात आली.
7) After a limited release to testing partners, Google rolled out Gemini 4 Argon globally on 13 October 2026. The artificial intelligence model is designed for complex tasks in software engineering, finance, legal services, cybersecurity, and scientific research. Developers and businesses can access it through the Gemini API, AI Studio and Google Antigravity and eligible Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers can access it through the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search.

8) IBM and MeitY Startup Hub (MSH), an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mumbai on October 13, 2026. Announcing the partnership at the IBM Think 2026 conference, it said the partnership is aimed at giving Indian deep-tech startups more access to enterprise technology and innovation platforms.
आयबीएम (IBM) आणि इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स आणि माहिती तंत्रज्ञान मंत्रालयाचा (MeitY) उपक्रम असलेल्या ‘MeitY स्टार्टअप हब’ (MSH) यांनी 13 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी मुंबईत एका सामंजस्य करारावर (MoU) स्वाक्षरी केली. ‘आयबीएम थिंक 2026’ (IBM Think 2026) परिषदेत या भागीदारीची घोषणा करताना असे सांगण्यात आले की, भारतीय ‘डीप-टेक’ (deep-tech) स्टार्टअप्सना ‘एंटरप्राइझ टेक्नॉलॉजी’ आणि नावीन्यपूर्ण व्यासपीठांपर्यंत (innovation platforms) अधिक उपलब्धता मिळवून देणे हा या भागीदारीचा उद्देश आहे.
