1) On Oct 6, 2026, the World Bank stated that India was among the top 10 emerging-market performers in artificial intelligence readiness. This assessment was made in the report, India and Artificial Intelligence: Seizing the Development Opportunity. India’s position was attributed to its technical workforce, globally integrated information technology sector and digital public infrastructure, the report said.
6 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी जागतिक बँकेने जाहीर केले की, ‘कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्तेच्या (AI) सज्जतेबाबत’ सर्वोत्तम कामगिरी करणाऱ्या उदयोन्मुख बाजारपेठा असलेल्या देशांमध्ये भारताचा समावेश आहे. ‘इंडिया अँड आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजन्स: सीझिंग द डेव्हलपमेंट अपॉर्च्युनिटी’ (India and Artificial Intelligence: Seizing the Development Opportunity) या अहवालात हे निरीक्षण नोंदवण्यात आले. भारताचे हे स्थान त्याच्या तांत्रिक मनुष्यबळामुळे, जागतिक स्तरावर एकात्मिक असलेल्या माहिती तंत्रज्ञान (IT) क्षेत्रामुळे आणि डिजिटल सार्वजनिक पायाभूत सुविधांमुळे प्राप्त झाले असल्याचे या अहवालात नमूद करण्यात आले आहे.
2) The Reserve Bank of India raised the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% on 7 October 2026. The Monetary Policy Committee, chaired by Governor Sanjay Malhotra, voted unanimously to increase the policy rate from 5.25% and changed the stance from neutral to calibrated tightening.
भारतीय रिझर्व्ह बँकेने 7 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी रेपो दरात 25 बेसिस पॉइंट्सची वाढ करून तो 5.50% केला. गव्हर्नर संजय मल्होत्रा यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखालील चलनविषयक धोरण समितीने (Monetary Policy Committee) धोरणात्मक दर 5.25% वरून वाढवण्याच्या बाजूने एकमताने मतदान केले आणि धोरणाची भूमिका ‘तटस्थ’ (neutral) वरून ‘नियोजित कडक धोरण’ (calibrated tightening) अशी बदलली.
3) The Indian Coast Guard will conduct the 12th National Maritime Search & Rescue Exercise, SAREX-2026 off Paradip coast on October 7 and 8, 2026. The exercise will include a scenario of a Mass Rescue Operation where a passenger aircraft ditches at sea with 228 people on board and collides with the container vessel MV ZUMBa.
भारतीय तटरक्षक दल 7 आणि 8 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी पारादीप किनारपट्टीजवळ 12 वा राष्ट्रीय सागरी शोध आणि बचाव सराव ‘सारेक्स-2026’ (SAREX-2026) आयोजित करणार आहे. या सरावात मोठ्या प्रमाणावरील बचाव मोहिमेच्या (Mass Rescue Operation) एका परिस्थितीचा समावेश असेल; ज्यामध्ये 228 प्रवासी असलेले एक विमान समुद्रात आपत्कालीन लँडिंग करते आणि ‘एमव्ही झुंबा’ (MV ZUMBa) या कंटेनर जहाजाशी त्याची धडक होते.
4) Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit was appointed the 29th Chief of the Air Staff on 6 October 2026. He will take over with effect from afternoon of 31 October 2026 in the rank of Air Chief Marshal on superannuation of Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.
एअर मार्शल आशुतोष दीक्षित यांची 6 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी 29 वे ‘चीफ ऑफ एअर स्टाफ’ म्हणून नियुक्ती करण्यात आली. एअर चीफ मार्शल अमर प्रीत सिंग यांच्या निवृत्तीनंतर, 31 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी दुपारपासून ते ‘एअर चीफ मार्शल’ या पदावर कार्यभार स्वीकारतील.
5) The Finance Ministry is currently working on implementing a faceless Goods and Services Tax (GST) assessment system for taxpayers under central formations. For those registered under the Central GST (CGST), the pilot should commence in three to four months and may later be offered to States as an optional system.
अर्थ मंत्रालय सध्या केंद्रीय अधिकारक्षेत्रांतर्गत येणाऱ्या करदात्यांसाठी ‘फेसलेस’ (थेट संपर्कविरहित) वस्तू आणि सेवा कर (GST) मूल्यांकन प्रणाली लागू करण्यावर काम करत आहे. केंद्रीय जीएसटी (CGST) अंतर्गत नोंदणीकृत करदात्यांसाठी या प्रणालीची प्रायोगिक अंमलबजावणी तीन ते चार महिन्यांत सुरू होण्याची शक्यता आहे आणि नंतर ती राज्यांसाठी एक ऐच्छिक प्रणाली म्हणून उपलब्ध करून दिली जाऊ शकते.
6) On 6 October 2026, Belgian particle physicist and professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Francis Halzen was awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has awarded the prize for decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astophysical origin.
6 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी, विस्कॉन्सिन-मॅडिसन विद्यापीठातील प्राध्यापक आणि बेल्जियन कण-भौतिकशास्त्रज्ञ फ्रान्सिस हॅल्झेन यांना 2026 चे भौतिकशास्त्रातील नोबेल पारितोषिक प्रदान करण्यात आले. ‘आइसक्यूब न्यूट्रिनो ऑब्झर्व्हेटरी’मधील (IceCube Neutrino Observatory) महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान आणि खगोलभौतिकीय स्रोतांपासून निर्माण होणाऱ्या उच्च-ऊर्जा न्यूट्रिनोंचा शोध यांसाठी ‘रॉयल स्वीडिश ॲकॅडमी ऑफ सायन्सेस’ने त्यांना हा पुरस्कार दिला आहे.
7) The Ministry of Tribal Affairs held a two-day National Conclave on Constitutional Rights and Legal Provisions for Tribal Communities in New Delhi on 6 October 2026. The conclave was held at the Scope Complex, inaugurated by Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram.
आदिवासी कार्य मंत्रालयाने 6 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी नवी दिल्ली येथे आदिवासी समुदायांचे घटनात्मक अधिकार आणि कायदेशीर तरतुदी या विषयावर दोन दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय परिषदेचे आयोजन केले होते. ही परिषद ‘स्कोप कॉम्प्लेक्स’ (Scope Complex) येथे आयोजित करण्यात आली होती आणि तिचे उद्घाटन केंद्रीय आदिवासी कार्य मंत्री जुएल ओराम यांच्या हस्ते झाले.
8) PLSS Chaitanya Prakash took over as Director (Power) of NLC India Limited (NLCIL) on 5th October, 2026. His appointment shall be effective from the date of assumption of charge till his superannuation on 31 December, 2029 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
पी.एल.एस.एस. चैतन्य प्रकाश यांनी 5 ऑक्टोबर 2026 रोजी एनएलसी इंडिया लिमिटेड (NLCIL) चे संचालक (ऊर्जा) म्हणून पदभार स्वीकारला. त्यांची ही नियुक्ती पदभार स्वीकारल्याच्या तारखेपासून ते 31 डिसेंबर 2029 रोजी होणाऱ्या त्यांच्या सेवानिवृत्तीपर्यंत किंवा पुढील आदेशापर्यंत – यापैकी जे आधी घडेल – लागू राहील.
