TNPSC Group IV 2026 Exam Pattern
The examination is a single paper, OMR-based objective type test.
| Part | Subject | No. of Questions | Max. Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part A | Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test | 100 | 150 |
| Part B | General Studies | 75 | 150 (B+C combined) |
| Part C | Aptitude and Mental Ability | 25 | |
| Total | 200 | 300 | |
- Total duration: 3 hours.
- Part B and Part C answer sheets are evaluated only if the candidate secures the minimum qualifying marks of 40% (60 marks) in Part A.
- Part A (Tamil) questions are set only in Tamil; Part B and C questions are set in both Tamil and English.
- Differently Abled candidates who studied English (not Tamil) at Board/University level can opt for General English (SSLC Standard) instead of the Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test, subject to uploading the prescribed disability certificate.
- Final ranking is based on the total marks secured across Part A, B, and C combined.
Examination Fee
The examination fee is ₹100 (Rupees One Hundred only), payable online at the time of submitting the application, unless fee exemption is claimed.
- Candidates belonging to eligible special categories can claim exemption from the fee, as per the criteria and limited number of free chances detailed in Annexure II of the notification.
- Payment is accepted only via Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card / UPI; offline modes (Demand Draft, Postal Order, etc.) are not accepted and will be summarily rejected.
- Applicable service/transaction charges must be borne by the candidate.
- A false claim of fee exemption, by suppressing details of previous applications, can lead to rejection of candidature and debarment for one year from TNPSC examinations.
Selection Process
- Single-stage written examination (OMR-based, objective type) on 10 January 2027.
- Merit/ranking list prepared based on total marks secured in Parts A, B, and C combined.
- In case of a tie, preference goes first to the candidate with a higher qualification, then by earlier application date, and finally by age (older candidate preferred).
- Onscreen certificate verification for shortlisted candidates, followed by physical certificate verification.
- Counselling for post allocation, based on marks, rule of reservation, and preferences.
- No interview is conducted for this recruitment.
