Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) has announced 1 vacancy for the Technician post on a contractual basis through M/s Nimbus Harbor Pvt. Ltd. The engagement is initially for 3 months or as per requirement. The notified pay is Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or other relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks or CGPA 5.0 on 10, alongside good knowledge of computer applications. Who Can Apply

Candidates must meet the essential qualification, experience, and age criteria specified in the official notification:

• Essential Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or other relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 5.0 on a 10.00 scale; OR Engineering Diploma in the same disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 5.0 on a 10.00 point scale; OR Senior secondary (10+2) from a recognized board with at least 50% marks and an ITI Course of one year or higher duration in the specified engineering trades; OR Secondary (10) with at least 60% marks and an ITI Certificate of 2 years duration in the specified engineering trades. Good knowledge of computer applications (emails, word processing, spreadsheet, presentations software, and OS like MS-Windows) is also required.
• Experience (Required): 6 months, preferably in a Tinkering Lab or similar environment.
• Desirable Experience: 1 year or more in a Tinkering Lab or similar.
• Age Limit: Up to 30 years.

Job Description

The technician will assist in operating and handling equipment under proper supervision, helping students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications. Responsibilities include improving technical skills, safety awareness, problem-solving ability, and confidence in using engineering tools. The role involves managing lab work and machine-based activities in Work Studio-1, Work Studio-2, and Maker Space for the Unified Engineering Course.
