Salary and Allowances

For in-service candidates on deputation and direct recruits below 60 years of age, pay is fixed at level 20 of the pay matrix under the "Tripura State Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules, 2018". This corresponds to Pay Band Scale Rs. 37400-67000 (HAG + Scale). The minimum basic pay is Rs. 118500, and these allowances are paid on top of it:

Retired candidates and those above 60 years get Rs. 1,00,000 (Rupees one lakh only) a month on a consolidated basis. This amount is not linked to any pension from earlier service. All pay is subject to revision by the Government or the Corporation.

Age Limit

The maximum age is 65 (sixty five) years, counted on the last date for receipt of applications. The notice states that this limit may be relaxed for a deserving candidate.

Educational Qualification

You need a consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks in B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering from a University or Institution recognised by UGC / AICTE. Where a grading system is used, an equivalent grade on a point scale is accepted.

Experience

You need at least 20 (twenty) years of working experience at managerial level in any Public or Private Sector Power Utility. This must include adequate exposure to installing and commissioning new power projects, and to the operation and maintenance of Generation Systems, including Commercial and System Operation, Tariff and Material Management. For a deserving candidate, the 20-year requirement may be reduced.

Job Description

The General Manager (Technical) works as a Line Manager and reports to the Director (Technical). The managerial duties are:

• Setting tasks and targets in line with the Corporation's goals and assigning work to Line Managers
• Running technical and organisational functions with proper systems and controls
• Building a positive work culture and motivating staff
• Carrying out programmes of the Central Government and the Government of Tripura
• Running random checks of offices and project work, collecting feedback and taking corrective action

The technical duties are:

• Keeping power generation uninterrupted and reliable through proper operation and maintenance of generating stations, including all types of transformers, with protection at every level
• Coordinating Generation, Transmission and Distribution, with proper relay coordination
• Material management, inventory, disposal of scrap material, and asset creation through TPGL projects
• Preparing DPRs, finishing tendering on time, and monitoring construction quality under generation projects and schemes
• Reducing transformer failure rates and working towards zero accidents through safety awareness
• Any other assignment given by the Director (Technical) or the Managing Director

Selection Process

• Selection is based on an interview only, and only shortlisted candidates are called.
• If shortlisting is needed, it may be done through a written test, academic records, higher educational qualifications and experience. The decision of the Screening Committee and the Appointing Authority on shortlisting is binding.
• The Corporation does not pay T.A. / D.A. for attending the interview.
• Original documents must be shown at the interview, or at any other time the Corporation decides.

Service Conditions

• The appointment is on contract for 3 (three) years. The appointing authority may extend it if both sides agree.
• No pension is paid by the Government of Tripura or TPGL. EPF benefits are available if you want them and if they apply.
• Either side can end the contract with 30 days' notice or by paying 1 (one) month's salary.
• Other service conditions are the same as for Tripura State Civil Service Officers of the equivalent grade.
• A Government of Tripura officer appointed on deputation stays under the service conditions of their original employment.
• In-service candidates may apply directly. If selected, they must bring a 'Release Order' or 'Deputation Order' from their present employer when joining. Without it, they cannot join.
