SAIL Young Professional Recruitment 2026 Overview

The 11 vacancies are spread across five areas: Marketing (4), C&IT (3), Finance (2), Statutory Compliance (1) and Environment Management Division (1).

SAIL Young Professional Important Dates

The online application window is short, running from 30 September 2026 to 15 October 2026. The notification advises candidates to apply well before the closing date.

SAIL Young Professional Vacancy 2026

SAIL has notified 11 engagements in total. Each engagement code has one vacancy, and the grade decides the upper age limit, minimum experience and monthly retainership fee.

SAIL Young Professional Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply

All Indian nationals who have completed 23 years of age and possess the required educational or professional qualifications and work experience can apply. The notification states that the minimum age for this engagement is 23 years.

The notification also places the responsibility on the candidate to make sure they meet every eligibility condition in the advertisement. Candidates who have not acquired the prescribed qualification and experience on or before 15.10.2026 need not apply.

Important Eligibility Conditions

• Essential qualifications must be Regular/Full-time in the respective stream from a University/Institution recognised by UGC/AICTE/ICAI/ICMAI.
• The experience must be from a PSU, a Govt. organisation, a Public Limited Company, a JV of PSUs, or a private firm with a valid CIN.
• The upper age limit, essential qualification and post-qualification experience are reckoned as on 15.10.2026.
• Where a University/Institution prescribes CGPA instead of percentage, the CGPA is converted to an equivalent percentage as per that institution's norms. If no norms are specified, it is converted proportionately (for example, 8.3 out of 10 is treated as 83%). Candidates must produce a copy of these conversion norms at the time of interview.
• Candidates employed in Govt. Departments/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies must produce an original NOC from their employer at the time of interview and a Release Order at the time of joining.

SAIL Young Professional Age Limit

The age limit depends on the grade. The upper age limit is 35 years for YP-1, 38 years for YP-2 and 42 years for YP-3, reckoned as on 15.10.2026. The minimum age is 23 years. Age relaxation for reserved categories is not specified in the notification.

SAIL Young Professional Qualification and Experience

Each engagement has its own essential qualification, desirable qualification and work experience requirement. Check the row for the engagement code you plan to apply for.

SAIL Young Professional Application Fee

The registration and processing fee is Rs. 500/- for all Young Professional categories (YP-1, YP-2 and YP-3). The fee is paid online after the application is completed. Candidates must also bear the payment charges in addition to the fee, and fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances. Fee concessions or exemptions for any category are not specified in the notification.

SAIL Young Professional Salary

Young Professionals are paid a monthly consolidated retainership fee based on their grade. An annual increment of 4%, 7% or 10% of the monthly consolidated retainership fee is given based on performance during the year.

Other Benefits

Accommodation

• Outstation Young Professionals will be provided company accommodation, subject to availability: 2-bedroom accommodation, or an equivalent monthly rent of Rs. 6,000 at city location.
• YP-3 may also be considered for 3-bedroom accommodation, or an equivalent monthly rent of Rs. 10,000 at city location.
• Charges towards electricity, water, maintenance etc. will be applicable as per actuals.
• No HRA will be payable.
• During the initial three (3) months, outstation Young Professionals may be allowed to stay at the SAIL Guest House/Transit House on payment of Rs. 200/- per day, subject to availability. Food charges will be at applicable rates.

Communication Facility

Mobile phone/broadband expenses (including monthly call charges, monthly rental and applicable taxes) for official use are paid within the following monthly ceiling.

Medical Facility and Insurance

Free medical facilities (OPD & IPD) are available at a Company-owned Hospital at any Plant/Unit location for self, spouse and two (2) dependent children. Young Professionals at city locations may be paid OPD medical expenses for self and spouse (combined) as per the limits below. No medical referral facility will be extended. It is mandatory to have adequate self-insurance cover (Medical/Life/Health/Accident).

These reimbursements are subject to documentary proof and are adjusted on a pro-rata basis for any period less than one year/month, as applicable.

Entitlements on Official Tour / Travel

• Travel by road is allowed only with prior approval of the Competent Authority, with road mileage reimbursed at Rs. 10.50 per km.
• Air travel for YP-2 is allowed for distances more than 500 km.
• At metro locations (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore), a 15% increase in the above limits applies. Stay expenses are reimbursed on production of a hotel/guest house receipt or bill, within prescribed limits.

What Is Not Payable

No other perks and allowances, loans/advances, Performance Related Payments (PRP), Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, terminal/service benefits or any reimbursements other than those specifically mentioned in the advertisement will be payable.

SAIL Young Professional Selection Process

The notification describes a scrutiny stage followed by an interview, with a test in some cases, depending on how many applications are received.

1. Applications received by the closing date are scrutinised for fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.
2. If the applications against an engagement are more than five (5) times the requirement, a Computer-based/Aptitude/General Management/Psychometric Test may be organised, or applicants may be asked to appear in any standard test/exam. Candidates are then shortlisted for personal interaction/interview in the ratio of 1:3 based on performance in the prescribed test. If more than one candidate obtains the cut-off marks, all of them will be called for interview.
3. If fewer than five (5) times the requirement is received, all candidates may be called for personal interview.
4. Candidates selected for engagement must join as indicated in the Offer of Engagement.

The CBT/Personal Interview will be held at centres across the country as decided by the management. The examination centre allotted is binding, and no request for a change of centre, interview date or medical examination date will be entertained.

Interview Travel Expenses

• Candidates attending the interview are reimbursed a single to-and-fro AC 2-Tier rail fare (with reservation and Tatkal charges, if any) from the place of correspondence address to the venue by the shortest route, on production of proof of journey, provided the distance by rail or road is more than 30 km each way.
• For candidates travelling by a higher class or by road, reimbursement is restricted to the fare of the entitled class.
• On joining, YP-1 and YP-2 are reimbursed an amount equivalent to 2AC train fare from the nearest railway station. YP-3 is entitled to economy airfare or 1AC train fare from the nearest railway station/airport.

Eligible candidates must apply online only through SAIL's website, www.sail.co.in (Careers). No other mode of application is accepted. Candidates click on the link of the engagement they are applying for and submit the information in the appropriate fields.

SAIL Young Professional Apply Online

The notification lists the following steps. These are indicative, and candidates must follow the steps displayed on the online screen.

1. Go to the SAIL "Careers" page at www.sail.co.in or http://sailcareers.com.
2. Read the advertisement carefully to be sure about eligibility.
3. Go through the User Manual available on the site and follow the steps mentioned.
4. Click on "Login" or "Apply".
5. New users must complete the one-time registration first, then go to "Registered User" and proceed with the User ID and Password.
6. Fill in the required information and upload the photograph, signature and the required certificates/documents.
7. Review the details entered and confirm. Once confirmed, no editing is allowed.
8. Pay the Registration and/or Processing Fee online. The payment link is available after the application is completed, and the candidate bears the payment charges in addition to the fee.
9. Submit the application and take a printout of the application showing the Application ID.

After applying, candidates must download the system-generated Registration Slip with the Application ID and keep it for future reference.

Before You Apply

• Read the online instructions carefully before submitting the application.
• Admission at all stages is provisional and subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, which are verified at the time of interview and joining. Candidature is cancelled if any criterion is not met or valid documentary proof cannot be produced.
• Joining is subject to a general medical fitness certificate from a qualified/authorised medical practitioner. The Company may also ask for a medical examination as per applicable standards.
• Candidates need a valid personal e-mail ID and a working mobile number that remain active until the entire selection process is complete.
• It is in the candidate's interest to apply for only one engagement.

Photograph and Signature Requirements

Documents to Be Uploaded

Scanned copies of original documents must be uploaded as PDF files, with each file not more than 300 KB. The list below applies to YP-1, YP-2 and YP-3.

2. Pass certificate of XII, B.E./B.Tech/MBA/M.E./M.Tech./PhD/any other qualification of relevant discipline
3. Experience certificate(s) from the employer showing relevant post-qualification experience
4. NOC from the present employer, if employed under PSUs/Autonomous Bodies/Govt. Department
5. Photo identity proof (Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport or Voter ID)
6. Address proof (Voter ID, Driving License, Aadhaar Card or others)
7. Conversion certificate/chart/formula for CGPA/SGPA to percentage (if available, optional)

Rejection and Communication

Incomplete applications, applications without photograph, signature or required documents, and applications not meeting the eligibility criteria will be summarily rejected. The decision of SAIL, CMO/EMD on eligibility, acceptance, rejection and issue of call letters is final and binding. No request for editing payment details or issue of admit card will be entertained in wrong-submission cases.

All correspondence is by e-mail/SMS only. Information about the examination, interview, admit card, CBT result, call letters and final selection is shared by e-mail/SMS or uploaded on the SAIL website. Candidates are allowed to appear in the CBT/interview only with a valid admit card/call letter carrying an identifiable photograph.
