RCC Thiruvananthapuram Resident Staff Nurse Selection Process

Selection is based on applications received: if 25 or fewer applications are received, a rank list will be prepared based on a common index system using marks scored in the qualifying examination and weightage for experience. If more than 25 applications are received, selection will be made through a written test consisting of 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), and a rank list will be prepared based on test scores and weightage for experience.

Weightage for experience will be awarded for experience over and above the prescribed mandatory qualifications at the rate of two marks for each year, up to a maximum of 5 marks. For GNM candidates, weightage is calculated only for the number of years served in excess of the mandatory two-year essential qualification. A candidate who has passed the Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing Course is eligible for 2 marks weightage (PBDON Certificate required).

RCC Thiruvananthapuram Resident Staff Nurse Important Instructions

  • The initial period of engagement is one year, extendable up to a maximum period of three years (in 179-day cycles) subject to satisfactory performance and institutional requirements.
  • Selected candidates must execute a contract agreement upon joining.
  • A candidate wishing to resign must submit one month's prior written notice; leaving without prior notice results in forfeiture of one month remuneration or equivalent.
  • Engagement may be terminated at any time if the candidate is found non-compliant with institutional discipline, rules, and regulations.
  • Successful completion of the Resident Staff Nurse Programme does not confer any claim or right for regular appointment in the cadre of Staff Nurse at RCC.
  • An Experience Certificate as "Resident Staff Nurse" will be issued only to candidates who complete at least six months of service and fulfil all resignation formalities.
