NEC Research Officer Recruitment 2026 – Apply Offline

The North Eastern Council Secretariat (NEC) has released the Recruitment 2026 notification for 1 Research Officer (Industries) vacancy on a deputation basis or other prescribed terms. Eligible candidates with a bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in the promotion and development of industries can apply offline through the prescribed application format. The last date to submit applications is within 60 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News. The selected candidate will receive a salary under Pay Level 10 (Rs. 56,100–1,77,500).

The North Eastern Council Secretariat, located in Nongrim Hills, Shillong, functions under the Ministry of Development of NER. It seeks to fill up the post of Research Officer (Industries) by deputation (including short term contract); or by deputation or re-employment (For Armed Forces Personnel) basis as per the provisions of Recruitment Rules.

Vacancy Details

The recruitment notification provides for a total of 01 vacancy for the Research Officer (Industries) post.

Who Can Apply

Officers of the Central Government or State Governments or Union territory Administrations or autonomous body or statutory organization or public sector undertakings or recognized university or recognized research institute must satisfy the following criteria:

• Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or
• With two years service in the grade rendered after appointment to the post on a regular basis in level-9 in the pay matrix (Rs.53100-167800) or equivalent in the parent cadre or department; or
• With four yeas service in the grade rendered after appointment to the post on a regular basis in level-8 in the pay matrix (Rs.47600-151100) or equivalent in the parent cadre or department; and
• Possessing a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or recognized institute; and
• Five years experience in promotion and development of industries.

For Armed Forces Personnel: Armed Forces personnel of the rank of Lieutenant or equivalent who are due to retire or to be transferred to reserve within a period of one year and possessing the educational qualifications and experience prescribed for deputationists shall also be considered for deputation.

Pay and Tenure

The pay and other terms and conditions of deputation will be regulated in accordance with DOPT’s OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17.06.2010 as amended from time to time. The period of deputation (including short-term contract) including the period of deputation (including short-term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three years. Selected Armed Forces officers will be given deputation terms up to the date on which they are due for release from the armed forces and thereafter they may be continued on re-employment terms (re-employment up to the age of superannuation with reference to civil post).

NEC Research Officer (Industries) Job Description

The selected officer will handle the following responsibilities:

• To deal with matters relating to promotion and development of Industries in the North Eastern Region and to assist Director (Tourism and Industries) in the matter relating to Industries and allied matters.

• Attach attested copies of ACRs for the last 5 (five) years duly attested on each page with seal by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Government of India or equivalent.
• Include an Integrity Certificate, Vigilance Clearance, Major or minor penalty certificate for the last 10 years of his service, and Cadre clearance certificate.
• Include a certificate to the effect that the particulars furnished by the candidate have been verified and found correct as per service records.
• Attach self attested copy of certificates of educational qualifications.

Selection and Interview

The selection will be conducted by the Selection Committee at the time of selection for the post, assessing the Curriculum Vitae duly supported by documents submitted by the candidates.
