About Nagaon University

Nagaon University describes itself as a public State University established by upgrading Nowgong College (Autonomous) under Assam Act No. LIX of 2023. The University is at Old A.T. Road, Nagaon - 782001, Assam. The Registrar's appointment is handled by the Selection Committee for the Post of Registrar. Its Member Secretary is Dr. Rupanjali Devi.

Who Can Apply

The single Registrar post is unreserved (UR). The essential qualification for Registrar, as printed in the notice, is:

• (a) A Master's Degree with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
• (b) At least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor in the Academic Level 11 and above or with 8 years of service in the Academic Level 12 and above including as Associate Professor along with at least 3 years of experience in educational administration.

The notice gives two alternatives to the experience in (b):

• Or, comparable experience in research establishment and/ or other Institutions of higher education recognized by UGC or AICTE.
• Or, 15 years administrative experience of which 8 years shall be as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.

Age limit: maximum age of 55 years as on 1 April 2026.

The notice says that the Supreme Court order in civil appeal no. 1085 arising out of S.L.P No. 36324 of 2017 will be followed for reserved category candidates. Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not by itself entitle an applicant to be called for the interview. Pay and Terms

• Pay Level: Rs. 1,44,200-2,18,200 + other allowances as admissible.
• Term: term post for a period of 5 years; the Registrar may be re-appointed.
• Rules governing the post: all terms and conditions of appointment follow the provisions of the Act and Statutes of the University.
• Probation: the appointment stays purely temporary until confirmation, which comes after a probation period of at least one year. The probation may be extended if necessary.
• Medical fitness at joining: the selected candidate must be medically fit, both physically and mentally. Before joining, they must produce a certificate signed by the Joint Director of Health services of the district concerned or a Government Medical Officer. If necessary, the University may appoint its own doctor to check this.
• No Court Case Certificate: a certificate from a competent authority must be submitted at the time of joining.

How to Apply for Nagaon University Recruitment 2026

Applications go by post, and a soft copy goes by email. The detailed advertisement and the prescribed application form are on the University website, www.nagaonuniversity.ac.in. The form is also printed in the notice, with the No Objection Certificate format as Annexure-1.

1. Get the prescribed application form from www.nagaonuniversity.ac.in and fill it in by typing. Hand-written applications will not be accepted.
2. Paste a recent coloured passport-size photograph on the form. Write the Advertisement No. and date, the post applied for, and the fee details (name of the bank with branch and the Demand Draft No.).
3. Get a non-refundable Demand Draft drawn in favour of Registrar, Nagaon University, payable at Nagaon University Fund, Assam Gramin Bank, Nagaon Branch (IFSC : PUNB0RRBAGB). The fee table is below.
4. Attach self-attested copies of all supporting certificates and documents (listed below). Sign the application and the supporting documents.
5. If you are in service, send the application through proper channel, or attach a No Objection Certificate from your appointing authority.
6. Write "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF REGISTRAR" clearly on the envelope.
7. Send the application so that it reaches this address within 21 days from the date of publication of the advertisement: The Member Secretary, Selection Committee for the Post of Registrar, Nagaon University, Old A. T. Road, Nagaon-782001, Assam.

Application Fee

The fee is paid only by Demand Draft and is non-refundable.

Documents named in the notice

• The typed application form in the prescribed format, with a recent coloured passport-size photograph pasted on it
• The Demand Draft for the application fee
• Self-attested copies of all certificates, documents and testimonials supporting your age, educational and other qualifications, experience and so on
• A No Objection Certificate from your appointing authority (in-service applicants who do not apply through proper channel), in the Annexure-1 format on official letterhead, signed by the Head of the University/Institute
• A Certificate of Character (good conduct) from the Head of the Institution you last attended or served in (if you are not an employee of this University)
• A separate sheet with details of your publications, and copies of the publications and testimonials
• Separate sheets with details of your conference and seminar presentations and your supervision of research degrees, if any
• A list of enclosures, signed declaration included

The application form also asks for your employment details, educational qualifications from HSLC onwards, administrative and teaching experience, research projects, honours and awards, membership of professional bodies, and up to 3 referees.

Selection Process

A Screening Committee checks every application, whatever the category. Applications with incorrect or missing information are rejected outright. The Screening Committee(s) shortlist candidates for the interview, and their decision on shortlisting is final and binding.

Important Instructions

• Applications received after the last date will be rejected. The University is not responsible for any postal delay.
• Applications that are incomplete in any way will be summarily rejected.
• No TA/DA is admissible to applicants for appearing in the interview/written test etc.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification. Impersonation will not be tolerated, and such cases will be dealt with as per law.
• If any information you give turns out to be false or incorrect, your candidature is liable to be summarily rejected at any stage, even after appointment (declaration in the application form).
• The University reserves the right to withdraw the advertised post at any time without giving a reason. It also reserves the right to fill or not fill the post, and its decision is final.
