Notes on vacancies from the advertisement:
- The number of posts may change. If it changes, the revised information will be published through a corrigendum on the High Court website (the advertisement mentions www.mphc.in in this note).
- Candidates must choose their preferred post(s) in the online form on the basis of the educational qualification shown against each post. The choice cannot be changed once the form is filled. Selection will be made only for the post chosen in the online form, even if the candidate scores high marks or holds the qualification of a higher post.
- Only unreserved posts are vacant for Stenographer Grade-III (Court Manager Staff) and Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing). Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC or EWS will be treated as unreserved for these posts.
- Under the Madhya Pradesh District Court Establishment (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2016, 20% of posts are horizontally reserved for candidates who have worked (or are working) on contract against an equivalent post in the same or a higher category/post in the MP High Court or MP District Courts for at least 5 years. If these posts cannot be filled, they will be filled by other candidates of the same category on merit.

MPHC Stenographer Eligibility Criteria
MPHC Stenographer eligibility depends on post-wise educational qualification, age limit (calculated as on 01.01.2026) and the general conditions of the advertisement. The candidate is responsible for checking that all eligibility conditions are met before applying. Issue of an admit card does not mean that the candidate has been accepted as eligible.
Conditions for Selection and Candidature
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- A candidate who has more than one living wife/husband is not eligible.
- A candidate who has more than two children, one of whom was born on or after 26 January 2001, is not eligible, as provided in Rule 6 of the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (General Conditions of Service) Rules, 1961. The advertisement clarifies that (a) a candidate is not disqualified where a later delivery results in more than one child after one living child already exists, and (b) a child born within 280 days of 26.01.2001 is not counted in the disqualification category (the advertisement refers to the High Court judgment in Writ Petition 5069/2002 dated 07.11.2003).
- The candidate must obtain a certificate of physical fitness for appointment from the District Medical Board. A candidate can be appointed temporarily if the certificate is submitted within 30 days of the date of appointment; otherwise the appointment can be terminated. If the Medical Board declares the candidate medically unfit, services can be terminated with immediate effect.
- Any attempt by the candidate to obtain support for his or her candidature will make the candidate ineligible for selection.
- A person is not eligible for appointment if he or she is or has been a member of, or associated with, an association declared unlawful by law; has taken part in or been associated with activities aimed at harming or weakening the Constitution of India, promoting violence, acting against the sovereignty and integrity of India or the security of the State, or promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion, race, language, caste or community; has been dismissed from service by the Central or State Government, a local body or a court; has been debarred or disqualified from an examination or selection process conducted by UPSC, a State PSC or a High Court; or has been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude.
- Selection to a post is subject to the Madhya Pradesh District Court Establishment (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2016 and other applicable rules.
Reservation and Domicile Notes
- Reservation and age relaxation apply only to original residents (domiciles) of Madhya Pradesh. Candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh must fill their category as "Unreserved" and apply only against Unreserved vacancies.
- OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates of any state other than Madhya Pradesh are treated as Unreserved candidates.
- Disabled candidates of any state other than Madhya Pradesh apply under the UR (PH) category.
- EWS: 10% vertical reservation in direct recruitment vacancies. Women: 35% horizontal and compartment-wise reservation (as per the Extraordinary Gazette Notification dated 03.10.2023). Ex-servicemen: 10% horizontal and compartment-wise reservation (as per the Extraordinary Gazette Notification dated 21.04.1999). MPHC Stenographer Qualification
The educational qualification for MPHC Stenographer posts is given in Section A (Two) of the advertisement. Computer Diploma Requirement
As per Madhya Pradesh General Administration Department circular No. C3-07/2015/1/3 dated 18.08.2015, a one-year computer diploma course from any one of the following is mandatory:
- A diploma from any university recognized by the UGC.
- A diploma from any open university recognized by the UGC.
- A diploma-level examination from DOEACC/National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT).
- A Modern Office Management course from a Government Polytechnic College.
- A one-year "Computer Operator and Programming Assistant" (COPA) certificate from a Government ITI.
In addition to the above computer diploma, the following qualifications are also accepted:
- B.E. (CSE/IT), M.C.A., B.C.A., M.Sc. (IT/CS), B.Sc. (IT/CS), M.Tech, M.E., etc.
- An AICTE-approved polytechnic diploma in Computer Science, Computer Application and Information Technology, etc.
- B.Sc./B.Com. degrees in which only one subject of computer is studied are not valid.
As per General Administration Department letter No. C-3-7/2015/1/3 dated 29 May 2019, if a candidate has passed B.Sc. with IT/CS along with other subjects, and the IT/CS subject is confirmed/certified on the mark-sheet, that B.Sc. degree will also be treated as equal to a B.Sc. (I.T./C.S.) degree.
MPHC Stenographer Age Limit
A candidate must have completed 18 years of age as on 01.01.2026. Because recruitment is being held in the year 2026, the age is calculated as on 01.01.2026. The maximum age limit is as follows.

Additional age relaxation notes from the advertisement:
- Ex-servicemen: The total defence service period already rendered will be deducted from the candidate's age, but the resulting age must not be more than three years above the maximum age limit. "Ex-servicemen" means ex-servicemen of Madhya Pradesh as defined in Rule 2(c) of the Madhya Pradesh Ex-Servicemen (Reservation of Vacancies in Civil Services and Posts, Class III and Class IV) Rules, 1985.

MPHC Stenographer Application Fee
The MPHC Stenographer application fee is ₹943.40 for Unreserved candidates and candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh. It is ₹743.40 for OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates (only original residents of M.P.) and all disabled candidates.

- Payment can be made through debit card or internet banking after completing the online form.
- The fee is subject to change. If it changes, the candidate must pay the changed fee. The advertisement says there is no provision for refund or adjustment of the application fee, and objections regarding a change in the fee will not be considered.
- An application is considered complete only when the prescribed fee has been paid successfully within the stipulated time.
- Fee-related details filled in the online form cannot be changed once entered.
- If the portal fee is paid but the form shows "Payment Status-Fail" because of a server-down issue, it may take 48 to 72 hours for the fee to update. MPHC Stenographer Selection Process
The MPHC Stenographer selection process has two stages: an Online Preliminary Examination (100 marks) and a Hindi Stenography/English Stenography Skill Test (100 marks). English Stenography is held for candidates who choose the Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing) post.
Stage 1: Online Preliminary Examination
- The examination is common for all the posts and has multiple-choice (M.C.Q.) questions for a maximum of 100 marks, with 1 mark for each question. The duration is 120 minutes (2 hours).
- It may be held in one shift, or in more than one shift if required, at centres including Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Sagar, Satna and Ujjain (all, or one or more as required). If it is held in more than one shift, the question papers will be different.
- The date(s), time and centres will be published through a notice on the High Court website. The online preliminary exam date is "to be notified later".
- Admit cards will be available on the High Court website; the print-out facility is expected to be available about 7 days before the exam date. The candidate must enter the application number and password to download it.

- Proposed model answers will be displayed on the High Court website after the preliminary examination. Objections must be submitted offline within 7 days of the notice, during office hours (10:00 AM to 05:00 PM), to the Principal Registrar (Examination), Administrative Building, High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur, in the prescribed format with self-attested copies of source documents. Objections received by e-mail or any other mode are not considered.
- For Stenographer Grade-II, Stenographer Grade-III and Stenographer Grade-III (Court Manager Staff), the result is prepared on the basis of marks in merit, and candidates up to a 1:5 ratio in each category (about 5 candidates per post, including all candidates with marks equal to the cut-off marks) are declared successful for the Hindi stenography skill test. For Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing), candidates in the same 1:5 ratio are declared successful for the English stenography skill test.
- The preliminary examination is screening only; its marks will not be considered at the time of the final result.

- Candidates who qualify must pay the ₹743.40 portal fee online to the service provider through a web link to be provided on the High Court website. Candidates who do not pay will be treated as unwilling for the skill test and their candidature will be cancelled.
- Candidates will be given a dictation of about 400 words in 5 minutes, followed by a separate 30 minutes for transcription. A mock dictation is given first, then the original dictation.
- Transcription is done on a computer; a keyboard is provided at the centre and candidates cannot bring their own computer, keyboard or chair. Hindi transcription must be done in Remington Gail. Extra time is given before the test to check the keyboard.
- A notebook is provided for noting down the dictation. If the dictation is written in long hand in the notebook, full marks will be deducted.
- In evaluation, 1/2 (0.50) mark is deducted for each error (wrong words, spelling errors, omitted words, punctuation errors, extra spaces or missing spaces between words and other typing errors). If a candidate makes more than 120 errors, the answer sheet will not be evaluated further and zero (00) marks will be awarded.
- The date of the skill test will be published separately on the High Court website. Candidates who make noise or disturbance during dictation or transcription, or argue unnecessarily, can be removed from the examination hall and their candidature cancelled.
- No provision exists for re-checking marks or re-evaluation of typing, and re-examination is not allowed.
Application and Documents for the Skill Test
- Candidates who qualify for the skill test must submit the application form and documents by the date to be fixed. The form will be uploaded to the High Court website.
- The application, along with self-attested photocopies of all documents and the category, must be sent in an envelope that clearly mentions the post applied for, addressed to the "Principal Registrar (Examination), Administrative Building, High Court of M.P., Jabalpur", at the Receipt Section of the High Court, in person or by speed post or other suitable means.
- Applications received after the fixed date will be rejected even if delayed by the postal department. Documents related to educational qualification must be attached; if any document is not attached, the candidate will be declared ineligible.
- The advertisement does not list the documents as a separate checklist. It states that documents related to educational qualification must be sent. For serving employees, a no-objection certificate from the department is mandatory (see Important Instructions).
Final Result, Minimum Marks and Waiting List
- The final skill test result is prepared category-wise on merit, keeping in mind the post(s) chosen in the online form and the educational qualification. The Stenographer Grade-II result is prepared first from successful candidates, then Stenographer Grade-III, then Stenographer Grade-III (Court Manager Staff), and then Assistant Grade-III (English Knowing), from the remaining successful candidates.
- Minimum marks in the skill test for all posts: General and Other Backward Classes 55%, Scheduled Caste 45%, Scheduled Tribe and disabled candidates 40%, and EWS 49.5%.
- In the case of equal marks, the older candidate gets preference.
- The final selection list and waiting list will be published on the High Court website. The waiting list will be valid from the date of declaration of the final result as per the Madhya Pradesh General Administration Department circular No. F6-07/2012/One(1) dated 14 July 2016.
- Inclusion of a name in the list gives no right to appointment until the appointing authority is satisfied about the candidate's suitability after verification of documents and background. The High Court reserves the right to correct the result in the case of a computer error, clerical error or other significant error.
- After the final result, the Response Sheet and score card for both the preliminary examination and the skill test will be shown on the High Court website. The candidate must enter the application number as User I.D. and the password.
Bond, Posting and Other Conditions
- Bond: The selected candidate must execute a bond of ₹2,00,000 (two lakh rupees) in the prescribed format and commit to serve for at least three years after joining. If the candidate resigns or leaves earlier, or violates any condition of the bond, the bond becomes enforceable and the candidate must pay ₹2,00,000. The bond amount need not be paid if the candidate/employee resigns, with prior permission, to join service in the Government of Madhya Pradesh or the Central Government.
- Posting: The district is allotted through counselling on the basis of category-wise merit and category-wise availability of vacancies in districts. Candidates have no right to a particular district or post. The appointing authority for all these posts is the Principal District and Sessions Judge of the concerned district. Requests for change of district after counselling will not be considered.
- Travel allowance: No travel allowance of any kind is payable to candidates appearing in the online preliminary examination and skill test.
- Information under the Right to Information: The candidate's answer sheet/candidate response will be provided on payment of the prescribed fee for 3 months after the final selection list is issued; the response sheet data will then be destroyed. Application forms and other material used in the examination (except those of finally selected candidates) will be destroyed one year after the selection list/final result is declared.
How to Apply for MPHC Stenographer Recruitment 2026
MPHC Stenographer apply online is open on the High Court of Madhya Pradesh website. Follow these steps as given in the advertisement:
- Visit the High Court of Madhya Pradesh website, www.mphc.gov.in.
- Click the "Recruitment/Result" button, then click "Click on-Online Application Forms/Admit Cards". Four links will be available for this recruitment: Advertisement, Registration, Application and Edit Application.
- Click the Advertisement link and read the full instructions of the advertisement carefully.
- Click the Registration link and enter the required information. A User-ID and Password will be sent to the mobile number and e-mail ID entered by the candidate.
- Click the Application link, fill in the application form completely and upload the photo and signature.
- Preview the form, click the Submit button and pay the prescribed fee through debit card or internet banking.
- After successful payment, click the Print button to get a print-out of the application and keep it safe for the further steps of the examination.
Candidates must make sure that the information in the application is correct and true; a separate application for correction later will not be entertained. No provision exists for correcting entries made in the Registration form.
MPHC Stenographer Application Correction
The Edit Application window is available from 30.10.2026 (12:00 noon) to 01.11.2026 (05:00 PM). It applies only to entries made while filling the application form. The advertisement also says that correctable errors can be corrected within 3 days after the last date of filling the online form, and that no correction can be made after this period.

MPHC Stenographer Important Instructions
- Candidates should regularly visit the High Court website for updates. Notices published on the website are deemed to be known to the candidates. Letters, e-mails, representations or telephone calls from candidates for unnecessary queries or document validity will not be accepted.
- If a candidate gives incomplete, or hides, material information about date of birth, educational qualification, reservation, criminal case (pending/acquitted) or the no-objection certificate (for government employees) in the application or any other document, the candidature will be cancelled immediately when it comes to notice, at any time.
- The candidate must not enter any detail in the online form that differs from the eligibility index/certificate. Only properly and correctly filled applications with the prescribed fee will be valid.
- Candidates already working in a public institution, a department of the State Government, an institution of the Central Government or any other autonomous institution must submit a no-objection certificate issued by their department; otherwise candidature can be cancelled. Applying for a no-objection from the department after appearing in the examination is not valid. If appointed, a government employee must submit a relieving certificate along with a No Dues Certificate and No Enquiry Certificate.
- If a criminal case is registered against the candidate at a police station, is pending in court, or has ended in acquittal, details such as the judgment/relevant Act and section, crime number, case number and date must be given. Hiding criminal case information leads to immediate cancellation of candidature without notice and debarment from further stages.
- If a candidate does not submit any document related to educational or technical qualification mentioned in the advertisement, the candidature can be cancelled at any stage.
- Admission to the examination is entirely provisional. The Hon'ble Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh has full authority to amend or cancel the selection process.
- Candidates must report to the examination centre at the fixed date and time; entry is not allowed after the fixed time. Biometric registration and/or photograph matching is done, and the whole examination takes place under C.C.T.V. surveillance and recording. Candidates cannot leave the centre before the end of the examination.
- Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, Wi-Fi devices, smart watches, smart glasses, calculators, watches and other electronic or communication devices are prohibited inside the main gate of the examination premises. Candidates are advised not to bring any prohibited or valuable items; the High Court, service provider and examination centre will not be responsible for any loss.
