Mormugao Port Authority Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online

Mormugao Port Authority invites applications from eligible officers of all Major Port Authorities for 1 post of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer in the Engineering Mechanical Department on a revised pay scale of Rs. 80,000–2,20,000 (pre-revised Rs. 32,900–58,000 / Rs. 16,000–20,800) by absorption through composite method. Applicants must hold a degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics & Communication Engineering from a recognised university or institution with 12 years of executive cadre experience in the relevant discipline. Eligible officers must submit their application online through the Online Application Portal at onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in from 23 October 2026 to 22 November 2026, and the printout through proper channel must reach the Mormugao Port Authority office on or before 07 December 2026.

Who Can Apply

Applications are invited from eligible and willing officers of all Major Port Authorities who satisfy the prescribed qualifications, experience, and service requirements. The crucial date for determining eligibility criteria with respect to qualification, experience, and age is 01 March 2027.

Educational Qualification

Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics & Communication Engineering from a recognised university or institution.

Experience

Twelve years of experience in the relevant discipline in executive cadre in an industrial, commercial, or government undertaking.

Age Limit

The upper age limit prescribed for direct recruitment is 42 years as on 01 March 2027. Under the Recruitment Rules, the age limit does not apply in the case of promotion or absorption.

Eligibility for Absorption through Composite Method

Officers serving in Major Port Trusts/Authorities must meet one of the following criteria:

• Officers holding analogous posts in the scale of pay of Rs. 16,000–20,800 in the Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Department in a Major Port Trust.
• Superintending Engineer and equivalent posts in the respective discipline of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Department with 3 years of regular service in the grade in the scale of Rs. 13,000–18,250 in a Major Port Trust.
• Superintending Engineer and equivalent posts in the respective discipline of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Department with 2 years of regular service in the grade and a combined regular service of 7 years in the scale of pay of Rs. 10,750–16,750 and Rs. 13,000–18,250 in the respective discipline in a Major Port Trust.

Eligibility for Deputation

Officers holding analogous posts or officers holding the post of Superintending Engineer and equivalent posts in the respective discipline of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Department in the scale of pay of Rs. 13,000–18,250 with 3 years of regular service in the grade in the respective discipline in Government, PSUs, or Autonomous bodies are eligible.

Pay and Tenure

The selected officer will be appointed to the post of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer in the Engineering Mechanical Department of Mormugao Port Authority in the scale of Rs. 80,000–2,20,000/- (pre-revised scale Rs. 32,900–58,000 / Rs. 16,000–400–20,800). The appointment will be on Composite Method and governed by the Port Service Rules and Regulations in force and as amended from time to time. Actual filling up of the vacancy will be completed upon concurrence and approval of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways.

How to Apply for MPA Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer

1. Open the Online Application Portal (OAP) hosted by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways at onlinevacancy.shipmin.nic.in.
2. Fill in and submit the application for the post of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer online between 23 October 2026 and 22 November 2026.
3. Download and print the completed online application form.
4. Affix a self-attested recent colour passport size photograph in the space provided on the application form.
5. Enclose attested copies of educational qualifications, experience certificates, and the signed self-undertaking on non-withdrawal of candidature (Annexure-IV).
6. Submit the application package through proper channel to the parent Port Authority administration for verification and forwarding.
7. Ensure the envelope carrying the forwarded application is superscribed with "Application for the post of Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer under Engineering Mechanical Dept., in Mormugao Port Authority".
8. The parent Port must forward the application along with all prescribed clearances so that it reaches Secretary, Mormugao Port Authority, "Saarasi" General Administration Department, Administrative Office Building, Headland, Sada, Goa - 403 804 on or before 07 December 2026.

Selection and Interview

The selection is made on merit through the composite method by the Services Selection Committee. The benchmark for selection requires that the overall grading in ACRs/APARs for the preceding five years (2021-22 to 2025-26) shall not be below "Very Good".

• In case an advance copy of the application is submitted by any candidate, the candidature will not be considered if the application is not received through proper channel from the parent Port within 15 days of the last date of receipt of applications (on or before 07 December 2026).
• Incomplete applications or applications received after 07 December 2026 or applications not routed through proper channel will be rejected.
• As per Ministry instructions dated 11 August 2021, any Port official who withdraws candidature after selection by the Services Selection Committee will be debarred from future selection to Deputy HoD level posts in all Major Port Authorities for two years.
• Candidates must execute an undertaking (Annexure-IV) confirming that they will not withdraw their candidature if selected by the Services Selection Committee.
• The parent Port Authority must forward attested copies of ACRs/APARs for the last 5 years (2021-22 to 2025-26), year-wise grading statements, administrative clearance (Annexure-II), vigilance clearance (Annexure-III), a No Objection Certificate (Annexure-V), service particulars (Annexure-VI), and details of any penalties imposed during the last 10 years.
• The parent Port Authority must verify and certify the veracity of university certificates and recognition of degrees obtained by the applicant.
• No application other than the application uploaded in OAP will be accepted.
