KVASU Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online

Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) is recruiting candidates for 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) post on a purely temporary and contractual basis. Applicants holding a Postgraduate degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology OR M.Tech Dairy Microbiology/ BVSc &AH, along with the prescribed national-level examination or selection criteria, are eligible to apply. The notified pay for the position is Rs. 37,000 per month, plus HRA. Who Can Apply

Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree in Microbiology/Biotechnology OR M.Tech Dairy Microbiology/ BVSc &AH, subject to fulfillment of the prescribed national-level examination/selection criteria. Candidates must have been selected through at least one of the following routes:

• National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET, including NET-Lectureship/Assistant Professorship, and GATE; or
• National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions, such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, NEET.

Desirable qualifications: Postgraduate degree in Dairy Microbiology, Veterinary Medicine, Microbiology, Biotechnology. Research experience in bacteriophages, probiotics, molecular microbiology or microbiome research. Practical experience in bacterial culture, bacteriophage isolation and characterisation, molecular biology techniques, and handling of bacterial pathogens.

Pay and Tenure

The selected Junior Research Fellow will receive a fellowship of Rs. 37,000/- per month, plus HRA as admissible under the funding agency's guidelines. The appointment is purely temporary and contractual, and co-terminus with the project or for such period as permitted under the sanctioned project, subject to satisfactory performance and applicable rules. The fellowship and other admissible benefits are governed by applicable DHR and University rules.

KVASU Junior Research Fellow Job Description

The selected candidate shall work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and undertake research activities related to the objectives of the project entitled “Indigenous phagebiotic functional formulation against livestock-associated Multidrug-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus: A One Health Approach to Gut Microbiome Modulation in a Murine Model.”

Selection and Interview

Eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications, relevant experience, and fulfillment of the prescribed eligibility criteria. The selection will be made based on academic qualifications, research aptitude, relevant experience, and performance in the interview, in accordance with applicable University and funding agency guidelines. Candidates must produce all original certificates and supporting documents for verification at the time of the interview.
