A total of 48 direct-payment Pourakarmika posts are vacant across the two City Municipal Councils of Koppal district.

Of the total posts, 6 posts (2 in Koppal + 4 in Gangavati) are reserved for eligible legal heirs (spouse, parents, or children) of persons who died under circumstances covered by the Manual Scavengers Act. If suitable applicants are not available under this reservation, these posts will be filled from other categories as per procedure.

Applicants must be Indian citizens. There is no relaxation available in age.

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 50 years

Age must be substantiated with educational certificates or other valid age-proof documents. No age relaxation is available under this recruitment.

Koppal Pourakarmika Recruitment 2026-27 Application Fee

The application fee must be paid via Demand Draft (DD). For candidates applying against Nagarasabhe Koppal posts, the DD should be drawn in favour of Nagarasabhe Koppal; for candidates applying against Nagarasabhe Gangavati posts, the DD should be drawn in favour of Nagarasabhe Gangavati. Applications submitted without the fee, or without the complete set of documents specified in the application form, will not be considered.

Koppal Pourakarmika Recruitment 2026-27 Selection Process

Selection is a scrutiny-and-priority-based process (no written examination or interview is conducted):

• Priority 1: Candidates with at least one year's prior service (before this notification) as Pourakarmika, Loader, UGD (Underground Drainage) Helper, or Cleaner/Helper in the district's local bodies, ranked by seniority in such service. Proof required: ESI/PF salary payment records, bank passbook, or attendance/muster records for the service period.
• Priority 2: Consideration for family members of Pourakarmikas who died while performing COVID-19 pandemic-related sanitation duty in the local bodies, or who died in service due to other causes.
• Priority 3: Candidates with at least one year's prior local-body work experience in allied roles - Loaders, UGD Helpers, Cleaners, waste segregation unit workers, or public toilet cleaning staff.
• Priority 4: 10% of posts reserved for legal heirs (spouse, parents, or children) of persons who died under Manual Scavengers Act-related circumstances.
• After exhausting eligible candidates under Priorities 1 to 4, any remaining vacant posts may be filled from other applicant categories, following due procedure.
• Applications are compiled and forwarded by the concerned local body's Commissioner/Chief Officer to the District Urban Development Cell and Deputy Commissioner, Koppal; applications sent directly (bypassing the local body) will not be considered.
• Final selection decision rests with the Chairman of the Direct Appointment Authority and the Deputy Commissioner, Koppal, in consultation with the selection committee.

1. Obtain the prescribed application form from Nagarasabhe Koppal (for Koppal posts) or Nagarasabhe Gangavati (for Gangavati posts).
2. Fill in the application form completely and accurately with all requested personal, age, and category details.
3. Attach self-attested copies of all supporting documents specified in the application form (age proof, category certificate if applicable, prior service proof if claiming priority, and any other listed document).
4. Prepare a Demand Draft for the applicable fee (₹100 or ₹200, depending on category), drawn in favour of the respective Nagarasabhe (Koppal or Gangavati) as applicable.
5. Submit the complete application, along with the fee DD and all enclosures, at the concerned office before the closing date.
6. Applications should be submitted in person or through the designated local body - offline submission only; no online application mode is available for this recruitment.
7. Ensure the application reaches the office on or before 22.10.2026; applications received after the closing date will not be considered.

Koppal Pourakarmika Recruitment 2026-27 Important Instructions

• This is a public notification only and does not itself constitute an appointment order.
• Mere submission of the application and fee does not create any entitlement or assurance of appointment; final selection is entirely at the discretion of the appointing authority.
• Engagement is on a direct-payment/honorarium (Nera Paavati) basis and is temporary in nature - it does not confer any right to regularisation of service or any other employment benefits ordinarily available to regular Pourakarmikas.
• Wages will be fixed as per the minimum wage notification issued by the Labour Department, revised from time to time, along with ESI and PF benefits.
• Appointment cannot be made through private contractors - engagement must be direct and cannot be assigned/subcontracted by the appointee to any other individual or organisation. A Notary Affidavit (approximate value ₹1,000) undertaking this may be required from the selected candidate.
• Selected candidates must be in good health; a medical fitness certificate from a registered doctor will be required.
• No compassionate appointment, pension, gratuity, or similar service benefit is admissible to the family in the event of the appointee's death while on duty.
• Engaged Pourakarmikas must perform only sanitation-related work and cannot be assigned to any other duties or departments.
• If an appointee fails in the performance of duty, or if the Chairman/Chief Officer of the local body recommends action, the appointing authority may remove such a candidate from duty without further process.
• Applicants must not have any pending criminal case and must not have been dismissed from any earlier service on grounds of indiscipline.
• Furnishing false or incorrect information in the application will lead to rejection of candidature, and may also attract criminal proceedings.
• The appointing authority (Chairman of the Direct Appointment Authority and Deputy Commissioner, Koppal) reserves the right to cancel or postpone the recruitment process, in part or entirely, at any stage, without assigning any reason.
