Age limit (as on 01.04.2026)

• Principal: minimum 30 years and maximum 45 years, with at least 04 years of teaching experience in Classes 9 to 12.
• All other posts: minimum 25 years and maximum 45 years.
• The maximum age for service in the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas is 60 years.

Principal

A teaching qualification (B.Ed) is required. The notice accepts any one of these routes:

1. Trained (B.Ed) M.A. (Hindi/English) or M.Sc. (Physics/Chemistry/Zoology/Botany/Mathematics/Computer Science) from a recognised university or institution. She also needs at least four years of teaching experience in Classes 9 to 12, or at least four years as a trained graduate headmaster of a junior high school recognised by the department. She must be at least 30 years old.
2. Ten years of teaching experience in intermediate classes in a recognised institution with a first or second division postgraduate degree, or fifteen years of teaching experience with a third division postgraduate degree.
3. A trained (B.Ed) postgraduate diploma holder in science who passed the diploma in first or second division and has 15 or 20 years of commendable service respectively after passing it from a recognised institution.

No separate PGT is appointed for the subject of the selected Principal; the Principal teaches that subject herself. Academic staff of the upgraded schools do not have to stay at the school overnight.

PGT and Computer Science (all trained, B.Ed)

• PGT Hindi: M.A. in Hindi and B.A. with Sanskrit, or the Shastri examination of Government Sanskrit College, Varanasi (now Sampurnanand University, Varanasi).
• PGT English: Postgraduate degree in English from a university of Uttar Pradesh or any other recognised university. Preferred: an L.T. diploma from a training college, or a degree or diploma in Education from a recognised university.
• PGT Mathematics: M.A. or M.Sc. Mathematics, or B.A. (Hons) or B.Sc. (Hons) with a three-year course in Mathematics.
• PGT Biology: M.Sc. in Botany or Zoology; or M.Sc. in Agricultural Botany with Zoology in B.Sc.; or M.Sc. in Agricultural Zoology with Botany in B.Sc.; or M.Sc. (Life Sciences) from a UGC-recognised university or degree college; or B.Sc. with the postgraduate diploma in Biology run by the Education Department, U.P., in a university or degree college.
• PGT Chemistry: M.Sc. Chemistry; or B.Sc. (Hons) with a three-year course in Chemistry; or a postgraduate degree (Biochemistry) from a UGC-recognised university or degree college; or B.Sc. with the postgraduate diploma in Chemistry run by the Education Department, U.P.
• PGT Physics: M.Sc. (Physics), or B.Sc. with the postgraduate diploma in Physics run by the Education Department, Uttar Pradesh, in a university or degree college.
• Computer Science: M.Tech (Computer Science); or B.E./B.Tech (Computer Science) from a recognised university; or M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Computer Science) from a recognised university, or DOEACC "B" level; or a postgraduate degree with a PG Diploma in Computer Application from a recognised university; or a postgraduate degree with B.Sc. (computer course making up at least 1/3 of the science courses) from a recognised university; or a postgraduate degree with DOEACC A-level.

Non-teaching posts

• Care Taker: Postgraduate and B.Ed. This is a full-time post and she must stay at the school at night. She must have no physical disability and no infectious disease.
• Office Superintendent / Clerk: (1) Intermediate from the Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, U.P., or an equivalent examination. (2) One of these: Computer Science as a separate subject in High School or Intermediate (from the U.P. board or any board set up by the Centre or a State); a CCC certificate from DOEACC/NIELIT or an equivalent from a government-recognised institution; or a diploma or degree in Computer Science. (3) Computer typing speed of at least 25 words per minute in Hindi and 30 words per minute in English.
• Lab Assistant: High School with science and a diploma in laboratory technique, or Intermediate with science from a recognised board.
• Peon, Chowkidar, Cook: Class 8 pass, with no physical disability and no infectious disease. These are full-time posts and she must stay at the school at night.

Teachers for Classes 6 to 8

• Full-time Teacher: Upper primary level TET and a trained (B.Ed) graduate degree. Training includes NCTE-recognised B.Ed or an equivalent such as L.T. For Mathematics: a trained (B.Ed) graduate with the PCM group plus upper primary TET. For Social Science: a trained (B.Ed) graduate with one of Geography, History and Civics, plus upper primary TET.
• Part-time Teacher - Physical Education: Trained graduate. B.P.Ed, C.P.Ed and D.P.Ed are valid only for teaching physical education, and TET is not required for B.P.Ed, C.P.Ed and D.P.Ed candidates for this post.
• Part-time Teacher - Art Craft / Home Science / Music: Graduate degree with training (B.Ed). The Home Craft teacher post counts within the Art, Craft and Music post.
• Part-time Teacher - Computer: A trained (B.Ed) graduate degree is mandatory, including NCTE-recognised B.Ed or an equivalent such as L.T. Desirable: PGDCA, BCA, B.Sc. Computer Science, or graduation with an "O level"/A level diploma from DOEACC or an equivalent institution.
• Assistant Cook: Class 8 pass, with no physical disability and no infectious disease. This is a full-time post and she must live at the school.

Selection Process

Selection is on merit. A candidate's merit score is worked out from her marks as follows:

Applicants for Office Superintendent/Clerk take a computer typing test in Hindi and English at NIC. At the time of selection, the certificates of teaching and non-teaching staff are verified with the board or institution that issued them. The honorarium is paid only after this verification.

Service Conditions

• The engagement is on contract for the academic session 2026-27.
• The Care Taker, Peon, Chowkidar, Cook and Assistant Cook posts are full-time, and these staff must stay at the school.
• The district selection committee may change or correct the notice, or cancel it at any time, and candidates have no claim against this.

Paste a recent photograph and sign the declaration.

How many Lab Assistant and Cook posts are there?

The upgraded KGBVs have 27 Lab Assistant posts and 25 Cook posts. The KGBVs for Classes 6 to 8 also have 03 Assistant Cook posts, all for EWS.

What is the pay for PGT and Principal posts?

PGTs get a fixed honorarium of Rs. 22,000 a month and Principals get Rs. 30,000 a month.

What is the age limit for the Principal post?

She must be 30 to 45 years old on 01.04.2026, with at least 04 years of experience teaching Classes 9 to 12.

What qualification is needed for the Clerk post?

She needs Intermediate, a computer qualification (such as CCC, or Computer Science as a subject in High School or Intermediate), and computer typing speeds of 25 wpm in Hindi and 30 wpm in English. The typing test is held at NIC.

Is TET needed for the Physical Education teacher post?

No. Candidates with B.P.Ed, C.P.Ed or D.P.Ed do not need TET for the part-time Physical Education post.

How is the merit list made?

The merit list uses weighted percentages: High School and Intermediate count for 10 each, graduation and postgraduation for 20 each, and training for 30.

Can I apply for two posts with one form?

No. Each post needs a separate application, and the post name and subject must be written on each envelope.
