Candidates must hold one of the following academic qualifications: M.A. in English with Honours in Hindi; or M.A. in Hindi with Honours in English; or Law Graduate with Hindi Honours; or M.A. in Hindi with Honours; or M.A. in any subject along with M.A. in Hindi or Honours in Hindi; or M.A. in Hindi; or B.A./B.Sc. with Honours in Hindi.

Selection is through a Written Test of 100 marks and 90 minutes’ duration, covering: English Grammar, Hindi Grammar, General Awareness, Computer Proficiency, Translation from Hindi to English and English to Hindi, and Word Meaning (English to Hindi & Hindi to English). The question paper is MCQ-based, attempted on an OMR answer sheet, with 1 mark per question and no negative marking.

• Qualifying marks: 40% for UR/EWS category, 35% for Scheduled Tribe/OBC category (the committee may lower qualifying marks if suitable candidates are not found).
• A category-wise provisional merit list is prepared based on written test marks.
• Five times the number of vacancies in each category will be called for original document verification before the final merit list is prepared.
• In case of a tie, preference goes to the older candidate by date of birth; if the date of birth is also the same, marks obtained in Post Graduation decide the final order.
• A waiting list equal to 50% of advertised vacancies will be prepared and remains valid for 1 year.
