AAI SSCO Consultant Engagement 2026 Remuneration & Allowances
As per DoPT OM F. No. 3-25/2020-E.IIIA dated 09.12.2020, a fixed monthly remuneration is admissible, arrived at by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. This fixed amount remains unchanged for the entire term of the contract – there is no annual increment or percentage increase during the contract period.
Allowances (per DoPT OM dated 09.12.2020)
- HRA: Not admissible.
- Transport Allowance: A fixed amount for commuting between residence and place of work, not exceeding the rate applicable to the appointee at the time of retirement; this amount also remains unchanged during the appointment. TA/DA on official tour, if any, is admissible as per the consultant’s entitlement at the time of retirement.
- TDS will be deducted at source from the remuneration.
AAI SSCO Consultant Engagement 2026 Selection Process
- There is no written examination. Only candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria and are shortlisted will be called for Application Verification followed by an Interview.
- Final selection is based on merit ranking of the interview alone.
- The schedule for verification/interview will be intimated to shortlisted candidates only on their registered email ID.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the application verification/interview, for joining the assignment, on its completion, or at any point during the engagement process.
- Mere submission of an application, or meeting the eligibility criteria, does not entitle a candidate to be called for interview/selection.
- Prior to commencement of the contract, AAI may require the selected consultant to submit a Medical Fitness Certificate (equivalent to defence medical standards) from a recognized physician, duly certified by the ATS In-Charge of the Joint User Defence Airfield where deployment is likely.

- A recent photograph, and the candidate’s signature with the declaration on the application form
Important Conditions
Period of Engagement
- Initial engagement is for 1 year only, extendable by 1 more year at a time; the total cumulative period cannot exceed 5 years, and no extension can take the consultant beyond 55 years of age.
- The engagement is full-time; consultants will not be permitted to take up any other assignment during the engagement period.
- A formal Contract/Agreement specifying the terms and conditions will be drawn up between the selected consultant and AAI.
Charter of Duties
Consultants will assist and support Air Traffic Control (ATC) operations at the concerned Joint User Defence Airfield, including ATC/SMC operations, watch extension, and other ATC-related activities as assigned by the ATS In-Charge.
Leave Provisions
- Leave is allowed at 1.5 days for each completed month of service.
- Consultants must mark attendance daily at their place of reporting/engagement.
- Unavailed leave in a calendar year is neither carried forward nor encashed into the next year.
- Absence beyond admissible leave and notified holidays results in a proportionate deduction from the consultancy remuneration.
- AAI may terminate the engagement if the consultant remains absent without intimation to the supervisory authority for more than 3 working days.
Other Conditions
- In case of death, injury or illness of the consultant attributable to the performance of services under the contract, AAI shall not be responsible for any compensation.
- False or insufficient information, or lack of proof to ascertain eligibility, will lead to summary rejection of candidature at any stage, with appropriate action as deemed fit.
- AAI reserves the right to upgrade the eligibility criteria if a large number of applications are received, and to cancel/modify/withdraw/postpone this engagement notice.
- AAI may terminate a consultant’s services at any time by giving 1 month’s notice or remuneration/fees in lieu of the notice period, and AAI management’s decision is final. A consultant may similarly seek termination by giving AAI 1 month’s notice or remuneration/fees in lieu.
